It is one thing creating an image and seeing it on a computer screen. It is quite another thing to hold that image in your hands. I can't describe how wonderful it feels to have the stories and images born of my imagination made tangible.
I have been visiting my printer on at least a weekly basis (sometimes much more!) for the last month or so, preparing my images for print. There were frustrations, tweaks, and many choices that had to be made - not the least of which was the actual paper choice. I tried several different papers to evaluate what will best show off the style of my work, as well as providing a beautiful finish and feel in-hand. My images have a lot of shadow detail but also a high dynamic range, with high contrast in some areas. I initially wanted a totally matte paper but after trying several and not being satisfied with the results, my printers suggested I look at a lustre option. I did some research and a wonderful photographer recommended Canson Platine Fibre Rag to me. I asked my printer to order some and I just saw the resultant proofs today. I'm happy to say that the images were lovely and so the paper choice has been finalised. I'm pleased to say I can now offer limited edition prints of my work.
